Be a Smart Shopper!

Smart Shopping advice

Considering that I am recently trying to start my own fashion consulting adventure, money has been pretty tight. Call me crazy, why did I buy a new lap top yesterday arggg!!! Time to start smart shopping.

Here are some tips to smart shopping.

Advice #1

Don't spend money on things that don't speak to your soul. If something is out-there and maybe a little weird, but it thrills you, buy it! Life is too short to not take fashion risks:)

Advice #2
A successful accessories and clothes shopping trip will...

  • Be part of a plan to create or maintain a stylish wardrobe
  • Extend your wardrobe allowing you to mix and match each item you bought with at least 3 other items already in your wardrobe
  • Keep you looking stylish and contemporary
  • Make you feel great!

Advice #3

Do you:
  • Buy clothes you don't wear -- some even have the price tags on still?
  • Buy clothes that don't go with anything in your wardrobe, so you have to spend yet more money to wear them?
  • Keep buying the same or very similar items?
  • Find you often have nothing suitable to wear?
  • Hate shopping -- you can never find anything you like?

The key things to understand are...
The aim of clothes shopping is to build a stylish wardrobe that suits your coloring, your body shape, your personality, your lifestyle and your budget. Your clothes should reflect who you are and take you where you want to go.
The best way to find out what colors suit you is to find an image consultant, such as myself, to help you. You can also learn more about colors here.
You can assess your own body shape and learn general style guide lines for your shape and then experiment to fine tune your best look. An image consultant such as myself can do just that.
When you understand the basics above you can discover more about style, design and how to develop your personal style.

Advice #4
Don’t give up on the clothes you have too easily. Many ignored and abandoned items in your closet could enjoy a new life with a little bit of TLC. Coats and blazers can be relined, shoes can be resoled and small imperfections can be repaired. If you have a pair of shoes that you never wear because their soles slip too easily, use sandpaper to give them better traction.

Advice #5
Choose the right shopping buddy. If your boyfriend hates shopping (as most of them do), leave him at home and instead take a friend who is keen. The last thing you want is someone rushing you because they bored or irritated. If all else fails a shopping spree with yourself can be just as much fun, plus you can decide when to go and when to stay.

Conclusion: Don’t be scared to try different outfit on even if its out of your comfort zone.

Happy Shopping!!!
